ACE Certificate in Language Teaching and Technology
The ACE Certificate in Language Teaching and Technology is designed for language teachers who are interested in becoming more knowledgeable, skilled and confident in the use of technologies for language teaching purposes. The course provides an overview of the theory and research on the use of technology for pedagogical purposes and then gives teachers the opportunity to work with current technologies that can be used in the language classroom.

Admission Requirements
The prerequisite for the ACE Certificate in Language Teaching and Technology is a strong interest in the use of technology for language teaching purposes. Current employment as a language teacher to either adults or children is beneficial. Qualifications for language teaching to either adults or children (English, French, Spanish, other languages) are also beneficial.
Course Content
The course is divided into three main sections
- Language Education and Technology: Participants look at what the research says about the use of technology for language learning purposes.
- Technology Tools: Participants become familiar with and use a wide range of technology tools.
- Teaching with Technology: Participants look at how the technology tools can be applied to teaching the four language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) and the four language systems (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and discourse).
Assessment
Each of the modules in the ACE Certificate in Language Teaching and Technology is comprised of PowerPoint slides, assigned readings and assigned tasks. The tasks are completed and submitted to the instructor as a Task Journal. Participants submit Task Journals to their instructor on an ongoing basis throughout the course for feedback and assessment. The final grade is derived solely from the Task Journal marks.
